Controls

Touch — drag anywhere on the street
Moves the crosshair with your finger, so your thumb never covers the window you are aiming at.
Touch — lift your finger
Throws the plane at the crosshair. The wind blowing at the moment you let go pushes it sideways in flight.
Touch — tap without dragging
Throws again at the same spot. The crosshair stays where you left it after the last throw.
Touch — tap a fold card at the bottom
Switches between Glider, Dart and Swallow. You can do it with your other thumb while you keep aiming.
Touch — drag onto the fold bar and let go
Cancels the throw. Nothing is thrown and no envelope is lost, but the postmark keeps running.
Mouse — hold the left button and drag
Works exactly like a finger: drag to aim, release to throw. The right button does nothing.
Keyboard — arrow keys, Space or Enter
Arrow keys move the crosshair (hold Shift for bigger steps); Space or Enter throws when a menu button is not focused; 1, 2 and 3 pick a fold.
Pause button, Esc or P
Pauses the shift and stops the postmark. The pause menu has Resume, Restart shift, Back to title, How to play and the sound, vibration, motion and language settings.

How to play

ObjectiveFly paper-plane letters into the lit windows across the street, allowing for the wind, and beat your best score on that street before your three spare envelopes run out. On Today's route, get through all 20 letters to earn the day's stamp.

Getting started

  1. Press Start shift on the title screen. Your first three letters of every shift are warm-ups: a single lit window with a wider opening and little or no wind.
  2. Look at the lit window and its value, then drag to put the crosshair on it. Low windows are worth 100, middle 200 and high 400.
  3. Check the windsock before you let go. If it shows wind, move the crosshair a little toward the side the wind is blowing from, then release to throw.
  4. Watch the faint trail the plane leaves. It shows how far the wind pushed it, so correct your next throw by the same amount.
  5. From the fourth letter three windows light up at once — one low, one middle, one high. Pick one. On your first shift the fold bar appears at letter six; use it to switch planes when the wind gets strong.
  6. Throw before the postmark ring runs out: after 12 seconds the letter is returned and costs an envelope, just like a miss.
  7. The shift ends when all three spare envelopes are gone. The result screen draws every miss and its cause; press Throw again to start the next shift straight away.

Tips

  • Estimate the push before you aim: with the Glider, each wind arrow moves the plane about a tenth of a window width per floor. Three arrows on the top floor is a push of about one and a half windows — further than the distance from one window to the next.
  • When the push is bigger than the window, aim at the dark window or the wall on the upwind side. Only where the plane lands counts, not what the crosshair was resting on.
  • The Dart drifts half as much as the Glider and the Swallow a quarter as much, and the random gust spread shrinks with the drift. In strong wind, switching fold is safer than trying to aim more precisely.
  • The Glider scores ×1.5 and has the widest glowing gap, so in calm air or one-arrow wind it is almost always the right plane — even for low windows.
  • Watch the windsock in the second before a wind change: a faint arrow previews the next wind. If it is gentler, hold your aim and release after the change.
  • Your streak adds ×0.25 per delivery in a row and caps at ×2 on the fifth. A high window with the Glider at ×2 is worth 1,200 before the express bonus, so protect a long streak with the window you are surest of.
  • Throwing early pays: every full second left on the postmark adds 10 points, up to 110, and 20 per second on the Tower street. A quick low-window throw can earn almost as much again in bonus.

FAQ

How do you play Paper Plane Post?

Drag on the street to move the crosshair onto a lit window across the street, then lift your finger to throw. The wind pushes the plane sideways, so aim a little toward the side it blows from. Each delivery scores points; each miss costs one of your three spare envelopes, and the shift ends when they are gone.

Why did my paper plane miss when I aimed right at the window?

The wind pushed it past the window. The push grows with the number of wind arrows and with the floor: the higher the window, the longer the flight and the further it drifts. Look at the faint trail your plane left, then aim that far toward the side the windsock is blowing from on the next throw.

Is the wind random?

Mostly not. The wind's strength and direction change every few seconds, but the same wind, floor and fold always push the plane the same distance. Only a small gust spread on top is random. It is proportional to that push, grows a little more from the fourth block of a shift, and is smaller on the Harbor street.

How does scoring work, and how do I get a high score?

A delivery scores the window's value (100 low, 200 middle, 400 high) × the fold (Glider ×1.5, Dart and Swallow ×1) × your streak, plus an express bonus. The streak starts at ×1, rises by ×0.25 for each further delivery in a row and reaches ×2 on the fifth; a miss or returned letter resets it. The express bonus is +10 per full second left, up to +110; on the Tower it is +20 per second, up to +220. Build long streaks and use the Glider on high windows when the wind allows.

Which fold should I use: Glider, Dart or Swallow?

Use the Glider in calm or light wind: it scores ×1.5 and has the widest opening. The Dart drifts half as much and suits low and middle windows in stronger wind, but only reaches floors 1 to 3. The Swallow barely drifts and suits high windows in a storm, but only reaches floors 3 to 5 and has the narrowest opening.

Why does the crosshair turn grey?

The crosshair turns grey when the selected fold cannot reach that floor, and the plane will not be thrown there, so you do not lose an envelope. The Dart cannot fly above the third floor and the Swallow cannot reach the two lowest floors. Switch folds or move the crosshair to a floor it can reach.

What happens when the postmark ring runs out?

Each letter has a 12-second postmark, and the ring turns red for the last three seconds. When it runs out, the letter is returned to sender: it costs one spare envelope and resets your streak, just like a miss, even if your finger is still on the screen. Lift your finger and press again to aim at the next letter.

How do I unlock the Harbor, the Tower and the Swallow?

Deliver letters to raise your postal rank. The Harbor opens at 20 delivered letters (rank 2), the Swallow at 50 (rank 3) and the Tower at 100 (rank 4); paper patterns open at 180, 300, 450 and 650. Errands on the title screen add 10 letters each. Patterns only change how the plane looks, never how it flies.

What is Today's route, and how do I get a stamp?

Today's route is a daily run of exactly 20 letters, built from today's date. Deliveries, misses and returned letters each count as one. Resolve the 20th letter to earn the day's stamp, even if it uses your last envelope; running out earlier ends the route without one. Every three stamps unlock a new paper colour.

Can I play Paper Plane Post on my phone or with a keyboard?

Yes, it is made for a phone held upright and also works in phone landscape, where the street sits on the left and the score, wind and folds on the right. On a computer the same phone layout runs in the middle of the screen. Mouse and keyboard both work: arrow keys aim, Space or Enter throws, 1 to 3 pick a fold.

Is Paper Plane Post free, and do I need to download it or sign up?

Paper Plane Post is free to play in your web browser, with nothing to install and no account to create. You need a connection to load the page; once it has loaded you can keep playing offline. There is nothing to buy in the game, and no chat.

Is my progress saved?

Yes, your rank, unlocks, best scores, stamps and settings are saved in this browser on this device. They do not carry over to another device or browser. Clearing site data erases them; a private window keeps separate records that may disappear when it closes. A shift in progress is not kept if you reload the page.

What should I do if the game will not load or has no sound?

If loading fails, press Try again on the error screen, then check your connection and reload the page. For sound, open the pause menu or Settings on the title screen and check that Sound is on, then check your device volume and silent switch. Everything you need to aim — windsock, postmark ring and trail — is also shown on screen.

Is Paper Plane Post suitable for children?

It is suggested for ages 7 and up. There is no violence: the only failure is a paper plane landing in the street or bouncing off a wall. There is no chat, no user-made content, no in-game purchases and no links out of the game. Settings include Reduce motion, and sound and vibration can be switched off.
