Move Buddies
Hold one end of the furniture and steer it while your buddy pushes the other. Get every piece into the van without a scratch โ or hand the phone over and take an end each.
Controls
- Touch โ hold a glowing handle and drag
- The end you are holding goes where your finger goes. Your buddy walks the other end toward the next doorway on their own, and that push is what turns the piece โ you never rotate it directly.
- Touch โ press the other handle
- Switches ends. Your first hand lets go, and your buddy drops back to a walk at 1.4 cells per second, which takes four seconds to build back up to the top pace of 2.8.
- Touch โ drag backwards, against the way you are travelling
- Digs in. Your buddy cannot push furniture that is being hauled the other way, so the pace falls by 1.6 a second down to a crawl. This is the only brake in the game; letting go is not one.
- Mouse โ left button, hold and drag
- Does exactly what a finger does. A computer shows the same upright phone screen with dark edges either side, so there is no separate desktop layout and the right button does nothing.
- Keyboard โ Tab or Space
- Switches between the front and back handle, with the same cost as pressing the other handle with a finger.
- Keyboard โ arrow keys
- Steer the end you are currently holding. Esc or P pauses the day, and both the van's clock and your buddy's pace freeze until you resume.
- Two players on one phone โ a thumb each on the two handles
- You each move one end and nobody pushes for you, so nothing moves unless somebody moves it. The piece turns only while one of you is going faster than the other.
- Two players on one keyboard โ arrow keys and W A S D
- Player one steers the back end with the arrow keys and player two steers the front end with W A S D, on the same screen.
How to play
ObjectiveGet as much furniture as you can through the doorways and onto the van before it drives off. Every unbroken piece scores from its remaining condition, and an untouched piece earns a 40-point bonus.
Getting started
- Pick how you are playing: On your own, Two Buddies for two people sharing one screen, or Today's order โ the fixed route everybody who plays that day receives.
- For On your own or Two Buddies, choose a site and a van. The Studio Flat is open from the start; the pickup gives you 200 seconds at ร0.9 points, the box van 180 seconds at ร1, and the long hauler 150 seconds at ร1.2. Today's order fixes the Studio Flat, the box van and the day's route for you.
- Your first-ever piece is the dining table. Hold either glowing handle and drag it โ the end under your finger follows you while your buddy carries the other end toward the doorway ahead.
- Read the two dots on the door frame before you reach it. They light about 0.4 seconds ahead: green means you will clear the gap at the angle you are already on, amber is marginal and red means you will not.
- Decide door by door. Squeeze through at an angle for +24, switch hands and bring the piece square for +10, or drag backwards to dig in and buy yourself another moment to line it up.
- Walk the piece through the fourth doorway and onto the van. It scores its value times its remaining condition, plus 40 more if you never clipped a frame or scraped a wall with it.
- The day ends when the van leaves or your third moving blanket is gone. Your score is measured against three star marks โ 620, 1100 and 1580 at the Studio Flat โ and Another run puts the next day's first piece in your hands in about two seconds.
Tips
- Width decides a doorway, not length. The floor lamp is 0.5 cells thick and slips through the narrowest Studio Flat door at almost any angle; the fridge is 1.5 thick and has to go through very nearly straight.
- Watch the door frame, not the furniture. Those two dots are the only warning you get about the angle you are actually on, and they light 0.4 seconds before you arrive โ long enough to dig in, not long enough to think it over.
- Swinging through pays +24 against +10 for squaring up, but one clip locks that doorway at +3 forever and takes 18 to 38 condition off a piece that started with 100. Square up at the narrowest door of each piece and swing the other three.
- Switching hands is the expensive move. It drops your buddy from 2.8 cells per second all the way back to 1.4 and costs four seconds to rebuild, so build pace along the wide stretch and spend it on a single switch.
- Clip damage scales with pace: 18 condition at a walk, 38 at full speed. When the dots go red while your buddy is flying, drag backwards first โ losing pace costs you seconds, and a clip costs you seconds, condition and the clean-piece bonus together.
- Long furniture swings slowly. The wardrobe turns at 47.2 degrees a second against the sofa's 53.5, so start pulling it round about a third of a second earlier than the sofa taught you to.
- Never rest a piece against a wall. Furniture pressed on a wall keeps losing 14 condition every second it is still moving, which is how a sofa breaks without a single bang.
- Protect the expensive pieces. The piano is worth 90 and the wardrobe 80, so a single full-pace clip on either costs more than a third of the piece plus the 40-point clean bonus โ more than two swings put together would have earned.
- Pick the van for the mark you are chasing. 200ร0.9, 180ร1 and 150ร1.2 all come to the same 180, so the pickup spreads one bad piece across more attempts while the long hauler makes every single piece matter.
- On two-player days say out loud who is slowing down. The piece turns on the difference between your two speeds, so either player can create a turn by easing off while the other keeps moving; matching speeds carries the piece straight.
FAQ
How do I start playing Move Buddies?
Press Start the job, choose On your own or Two Buddies, then pick a site and a van and press Start the job again. For Today's order, use its title-screen entry and start the fixed Studio Flat route with the box van. There is no sign-up step; hold either glowing handle and drag to begin.
Do I control both movers?
On your own you steer one end at a time and the other end walks itself, and that is the whole game. Your buddy always pushes their end toward the next doorway, so pulling your end one way makes the piece pivot. In Two Buddies, a second person takes that end instead and the automatic push is switched off.
How does two-player mode work?
Two Buddies is two people on one screen, one thumb on each handle and one end each. There is no online play, no room code and no second device โ you hand the phone over, or share one keyboard with the arrow keys and W A S D. Nobody pushes for you, so the furniture only turns while one of you is moving faster than the other.
Is Move Buddies free, and do I need to download it or make an account?
It is free, it runs in your browser, and there is nothing to download and no account to make. The site has no sign-in of any kind, no currency and no shop โ stars open new sites and hats come from filling in the furniture catalogue, so there is nothing to buy at any point.
Can I play Move Buddies on my phone?
Yes โ it is built for a phone held upright, with both handles down in the thumb half of the screen. Phone landscape works too, with the score, clock and pace moved into a side column. On a computer you get that same upright screen with dark edges either side, and the left mouse button does what a finger does.
Why does my furniture keep breaking?
Each piece starts at 100 condition and breaks when that ring empties. Clipping a door frame takes 18 off at walking pace and up to 38 at full pace, so two full-speed clips leave only 24 condition and a third can break it. Furniture pressed against a wall also loses 14 condition every second it keeps moving, so back off rather than grinding along it.
I let go and nothing stopped โ is the game broken?
No. Letting go is not a brake: both movers keep walking at whatever pace they had, and left alone they will walk the furniture straight into a wall. To slow down, drag backwards against the direction of travel. That digs your end in, the pace falls by 1.6 a second, and it costs you the pace you spent time building.
How do I get three stars in Move Buddies?
At the Studio Flat the three marks are 620, 1100 and 1580 points in one day; the Walk-Up and the Loft use the same marks raised by their ร1.2 and ร1.4 multipliers. The reliable route is a swing through the three wider doors of each piece at +24 apiece, one squared-up pass at the narrowest, and the piece loaded untouched for its full value plus the 40-point clean bonus.
How do I unlock The Walk-Up and The Loft?
The Walk-Up opens at 8 total stars and The Loft at 20. Stars add up across days and never go down, so a run that earns one star is still progress. Only solo regular days add to that total โ Today's order and two-player days are scored and shown the same way, but they keep their own records instead.
What is Today's order?
Today's order uses the Studio Flat and box van, plus one route and furniture list generated from your device's date, so everyone playing on the same date gets the same job. It is scored against the same star marks but does not add to your star total, and there is no ranking or scoreboard of any kind. A new route appears tomorrow.
Is my progress saved?
Your stars, best scores, furniture catalogue, hats and settings are saved in this browser on this device only. Nothing is uploaded and there is no account, so clearing your browser data or moving to another device starts you from zero. A day in progress is not kept โ close the page halfway and that day is gone, but everything you had already earned stays.
What should I do if Move Buddies won't load?
Press Try again on the error panel, then check your connection and reload the page. Your saved stars, catalogue and settings are stored in this browser, so retrying or reloading does not erase them. If the game has already loaded, a later connection drop does not stop the current day.
Why is there no sound in Move Buddies?
Open Pause, choose Settings and make sure Sound is switched on, then check your device volume and, on an iPhone, the silent switch. The browser may also require one press inside the game before audio can begin. Vibration and Reduce motion are separate settings and do not restore sound.
Is Move Buddies suitable for children?
Yes, it suits all ages. There is no violence, no chat, no text entry, no account, no advertising and nothing to buy. The only breakage is a cartoon piece of furniture coming apart in a puff of dust, and the two-player mode on a single phone makes it easy for an adult and a child to take an end each.
