Bubble Diver
Dive deeper on one breath at a time. Bubbles are your only air — hold one, choose when to let go, and see how far down you get.
Controls
- Touch — hold a bubble
- You are pulled toward it and air flows back in. While you hold it you cannot turn and you sink twice as fast.
- Touch — let go
- Ends the breath after its minimum 0.35 seconds, so even a quick tap takes a short breath. You keep your sideways drift. Dragging a held finger does not change bubbles; press another bubble to switch after that minimum time. The latest press replaces any waiting switch.
- Mouse — hold the left button on a bubble
- Identical to a finger, including the pull and the faster sinking. The right button does nothing.
- Keyboard — left and right arrows
- Moves the selection ring between the bubbles currently on screen. Changing it mid-breath requests the next bubble.
- Keyboard — hold Space or Enter
- Breathes from the selected bubble. Release every breathing key you are holding to end the breath after its minimum 0.35 seconds. While holding, use an arrow key to request another bubble; it takes over once that minimum has passed.
- Pause button at the top of the play area
- Freezes the dive and opens a menu with Resume, Settings, How to play and Back to title. After Resume, press a bubble again to breathe.
How to play
ObjectiveThere is no finish line — the cave keeps going and the air bar is the only thing that can end a dive. Winning means beating your own last dive on the three numbers the results screen shows: deepest screen, highest combo and pearls collected.
Getting started
- Press Start diving on the title screen to use your current choices. To change them first, open Choose a cave, select an unlocked cave and a tide, then press Start diving. The tide stays fixed for that dive.
- On your very first dive three prompts walk you through it: hold a bubble, let go before the bend, then take a fresh bubble to build your combo.
- Hold the bubble closest to the line you want. The air bar refills, you drift toward it, and you fall twice as fast for as long as you drink.
- Let go before the passage bends away. You keep the sideways speed you built, so treat the moment you release as your steering.
- From screen 4 rock, stalagmites and urchins start appearing; from screen 5 pearls turn up on the branch side, at most one every three screens.
- The dive ends the instant the air bar empties. The results screen names which of the four ways emptied it and shows your device best beside each number, and Dive again starts the next one.
Tips
- In a narrow passage, release before the bend instead of emptying the bubble. Allow for the minimum 0.35-second breath. Any air left inside can be used again while that bubble remains available.
- The pull ramps up the longer you hold: it starts at about 40 percent and only reaches full strength after a full second. One long drink therefore drags you far further sideways than two short ones that add up to the same time.
- A bubble pays combo only once per dive, and only if you hold it for a full 0.35 seconds. Returning to a half-empty bubble still gives air, but it will not extend the chain or reset its timer.
- The chain window is 1.5 seconds from the end of your last qualifying breath. If no fresh bubble is reachable in that time, take the air anyway — a broken combo costs less than an empty bar.
- Only one of the three bubbles on each screen sits on the main line; the other two are tucked into wall pockets. Past roughly screen 10 the main line alone no longer covers the drain, so start planning entries into the pockets before you are running thin.
- Pearls sit between the passage and the branch bubble. Press the bubble, not the pearl, and check that the pocket is open along your route. The bubble pulls you sideways toward the pearl; collect it by passing close enough at its depth.
- Rough Tide scores ×1.25 but narrows every passage, and Calm Tide scores ×0.85 with wider ones. The air supply is identical in all three, so move up to Rough only once you can finish a Steady dive without crashing.
FAQ
How do I start playing Bubble Diver?
Press Start diving on the title screen to begin with your current cave and tide. To change them, first open Choose a cave, select an unlocked cave and a tide, then press Start diving. Your first dive includes prompts to hold a bubble, release and take a fresh bubble.
How do I steer — are there direction controls?
There are no direction controls at all. You go where the bubble you are drinking pulls you, and when you let go you keep the sideways speed you had built up. Choosing which bubble to hold, and when to release it, is the whole of the steering.
Why do I sink faster while I am breathing?
Breathing doubles your sink rate while the bubble pulls you sideways. You trade air for faster descent and less freedom to change your line. Check the next bend before holding, and release early in a narrow passage, allowing for the minimum 0.35-second breath.
How does the combo multiplier work in Bubble Diver?
The first qualifying bubble starts a chain at ×1; each following qualifying bubble adds 0.2, up to ×3 after eleven different bubbles. Each bubble must be new to the chain for this dive and held continuously for at least 0.35 seconds. Start the next fresh bubble before 1.5 seconds have passed since the previous qualifying breath ended. Reusing a credited bubble gives air but does not renew the chain. Crashing resets the multiplier to ×1.
How do I get a higher score?
Build your combo with fresh bubbles while avoiding crashes. Depth earns 10 points per screen and each pearl earns 25, multiplied by the combo at that moment and your chosen tide's score factor. Take pearls along a safe route to air; a detour that causes a crash costs 25 air and resets your combo. Try Rough Tide's ×1.25 score factor once you can handle narrower passages.
Why did my dive end when it did?
A dive ends when your air reaches zero. Doing nothing uses it up in about 27 seconds; crashes each cost 25 air and block breathing for 0.8 seconds. Deeper down, air drains faster and bubbles hold less, so even regular breaths may not replace everything you use. The results screen gives the reason for your dive ending; press Dive again to retry.
What is the difference between Calm, Steady and Rough Tide?
Tide changes passage width and your score multiplier, and nothing else. Calm widens the passages and scores ×0.85, Steady is the baseline at ×1, and Rough narrows them and scores ×1.25. The amount of air in the cave is exactly the same in all three. You pick the tide before a dive and it cannot be changed until that dive ends.
How do I unlock Blue Hole, The Rift and Undertow?
By descending screens, added up across every dive you finish. Shoal Reef is open from the start, Blue Hole opens at 60 total screens, The Rift at 200 and Undertow at 500. The cave list shows how many screens you still need. Each cave bends its passages more sharply than the one before, and the bubbles get smaller, so they are harder rather than simply later.
What is Today's cave, and does it change during the day?
Today's cave repeats the same layout for the same device date, cave and tide. Changing the cave or tide changes that setup; a new date gives a new daily layout. Open Today's cave from the title screen to see a route preview before starting. Daily records are separate from regular dives.
Can I play Bubble Diver on a phone, and does landscape work?
Yes — the game is built for a phone screen held upright, and that is the layout desktop browsers run too, centred with dark edges at the sides. Phone landscape is supported as well: the air bar moves from a column at the side to a strip across the top, and the rules, timings and bubble sizes are unchanged.
Do I need to download anything or create an account?
Bubble Diver plays in your browser without installing an app or creating an account. You need a connection to load or reload the page and its images. Records and unlocks stay in this browser on this device; signing in on another device is not available.
Is my progress saved, and can I continue on another device?
Records, dive marks, unlocked caves and wetsuits and your settings are saved in this browser on this device only, and there is no way to carry them to another one. Clearing site data or using a private window starts you from zero. A dive in progress is never saved: switching apps pauses it and offers Resume, but reloading the page ends that dive. If saving is unavailable, Settings says so and you can still play.
What should I do if the game does not load, or has no sound?
If loading fails, an error panel with Try again appears — use it, then check your connection, reload the page, and disable any content blocker for this page. For sound, open Pause then Settings and check the Sound switch, then check your device volume and silent switch. Vibration and Reduce motion are in the same panel and neither one changes how the game plays.
Is Bubble Diver suitable for children?
It is suggested for ages 7 and up. There is no blood, no horror and no jump scare; running out of air is shown as the picture going blue and the music fading out. The hazards are plain geometric rock, stalagmites and urchins rather than creatures that attack you. There is no chat, no user-made content, nothing to buy and no other player's data anywhere in the game.
